Anxious Fans Await Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour
Drake knows how to draw a crowd! With the Canadian rapper already being one of the biggest superstars in the world, his upcoming concert tour is bound to up the ante!
Drake is launching the Drake Summer Sixteen Tour with Future and Special Guests to support his brand new album, Views. The North American tour, promoted by Live Nation, will kick off on Wednesday, July 20 at the Frank Erwin Center!
Views made its debut on BillBoard 200 Chart at No. 1 in early May of this year. The set earned 1.04 million equivalent album units in the week ending May 5 in the U.S. Views was initially released exclusively for sale through the iTunes Store and to stream via Apple Music on April 29 by Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records. On May 6, the album became available for purchase through other digital retailers and its physical CD was also released. Not to mention, Views is Drake’s sixth straight No. 1 album.
Back in May, Drake surpassed Elvis for the most simultaneous top 100 charting songs! His latest accomplishment means that he has now tied Michael Jackson for what Billboard calls “the longest-ever simultaneous domination of the two rankings by a male artist,” with Jackson likely to be surpassed this month.
Drake’s music exists in a very different atmosphere than Jackson’s. Now, album sales are a sideshow to many fans. Drake is dominating the platforms that matter in 2016: indeed, One Dance also bagged as one of the top songs to be streamed and remains at the top on the overall Streaming Songs chart.
Fans in Austin, Texas couldn’t have been more excited about being the first fortunate ones to see Drake perform. Drake himself cannot wait to get back onto the stage and perform his biggest hits in front of his fans. His last appearance on a big stage took place at the Austin City Limits (ACL) music festival in Austin, Texas, back in October of 2015. He left the whole city in awe when he performed at ACL and now he’s returning to kick-off his tour!
That’s not even the best part, as Drake makes the second appearance of his tour in Dallas, Texas. Though he hasn’t performed in Dallas in a long while, the fans from the “Big D” will be just as ecstatic to see him like any other. From then on, he will make his way towards the Midwest and Northern part of the U.S.
Eventually, Drake, who is originally from Canada, will make an appearance in his home country. Toronto Ontario, Canada, is going to be the first Canadian city to see Drake live. There’s no doubt that Drake will receive an amazing and roaring reception from the people of Toronto! He’s made quite the impression in Toronto as he occasionally makes appearances in the city and supports their professional basketball team.
It’s amazing how this young artist from Canada has made such an impact in the world of music. The Canadians are proud to claim him as one of the best representors of their country. He’s also broken many barriers, as being one of the most successful Canadians to make a name for himself in the music industry.
Afterwards, the tour will make its way to the big apple, New York City. New York is known to be one of Drake’s favorite cities to perform in. Who can blame him? As big of a star as he’s become, it’s only right that he performs his very best in front of the Big Apple. Fans should not be surprised if he were to guest star a few other artists from New York in his show as he has done in the past.
Throughout his concert tour, he plans to extend his trip to the east coast in cities like Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami and Tampa. All of these cities are known for being mostly influenced by his music. This concert tour is meant to give others a reason to be excited about and something to look forward to for this summer.
Not only has Drake made an impact in the east coast, but Houston, Texas, is also one of the many cities he’s enjoyed performing in since the beginning of his career. There are a few references he makes about Houston in his songs and how much appreciation he has for the city. Fans from Houston should expect nothing short but the best out of Drake as he has never disappointed before.
The concert tour will shift its way towards the west coast and Drake’s fans from Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas and Phoenix will all be able to enjoy his performances. This gives a reason for celebrities and professional athletes who reside in California to make plans to attend his shows. Why wouldn’t they go? Drake’s tour is only going to be one of the most talked about topics to surface social media outlets throughout this summer.
Before the tour comes to an end, Drake plans to make a final trip to Canada and perform one of his last shows. By that time, he will have already left everyone else satisfied and it’s only right that he leaves his fans from Toronto speechless.
